      A cross-border prescription (E-recepta transgraniczna) is a prescription for non-controlled medications, suitable for purchasing medicines at pharmacies in any EU country.

      A cross-border e-prescription is a convenient option for individuals who travel frequently throughout Europe or live and work in two different countries.

      With a Polish cross-border e-prescription, you can obtain medications in Croatia, Finland, Estonia, the Czech Republic, Greece, Lithuania, Latvia, Portugal, and Spain.

      With a paper cross-border prescription, you can purchase medications in other EU countries.

      A cross-border prescription can be filled abroad for ready-made medications in the “Rp” (prescription-required) or “OTC” (over-the-counter) categories.

      It is not possible to fill prescriptions abroad for psychotropic and narcotic drugs, custom-compounded medications, medications in the “Rpz” category (restricted prescription use), special dietary foods for medical purposes, and medical devices. Such prescriptions can only be fulfilled in Poland. Therefore, it is advisable to inform the doctor if you wish to fill the prescription in another country.
      A cross-border prescription, whether in paper or electronic form, is fully payable by the patient. Upon returning to Poland, you may submit a request for reimbursement to the NFZ (National Health Fund).
